Second Presbyterian Church’s Prayer Knots volunteers are ready to pray, upon request, for the joys, cares, and concerns of church members, their families, and friends. Prayer requests can be made for specific people or situations, or can be made confidentially without mention of names or situations. Our prayer teams are called Prayer Knots due the Scottish heritage of the Presbyterian Church. Celtic knots date back to the 5th century and were used extensively by ancient monks in illuminated manuscripts such as the Book of Kells and Book of Durrows. The knot work is an artistic impression of the continuity of God’s love, the binding together of persons in Christ, the binding together of heaven and earth through prayer, and the belief that there is no beginning or ending of God.
