Kay Combs is a Little Rock native and has been a member of Second Presbyterian since 1995. She is married to Ben and they have three grown children, Melissa, and twins Christopher and Kathleen, four grandchildren, and a wonderful golden retriever! Kay has a BS in Education and a Master’s in Early Childhood Education. She taught in the public schools for fourteen years. She served two terms as an elder, was moderator of Children’s Ministry, served on the Outreach ministry, chaired VBS and co-chaired the planning and implementation of Bible Village. Interests include tennis, reading, spending time at the lake and her craft company, Lulu Ann’s.
Cathy Cravens Crass has been a member of Second Presbyterian since she was three which makes it over 50 years! In the church she has attended or led Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, served on the Diaconate and Session, chaired the Stewardships campaign and the 1976 Bicentennial Celebration, more committee/ministries than she can remember and currently cooks for Stewpot. Cathy is a Stephen Minister and now leader. Outside of Church she enjoys volunteering in the community. Hobbies include pottery, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She is married to Kevin and they have two grown sons, Will and Ted.
Rich Evans moved to Little Rock in 2017 from Charlotte, North Carolina with his wife Pastor Jen and their two boys Trey and William. He is a bank branch manager with Regions Bank. Rich enjoys Boy Scouts with his boys, Star Trek, spreading positive energy with The Energy Bus by Jon Gordon and being involved in Sunday School and Wednesdays Together at Second Presbyterian. He has been involved in Stephen Ministry since 2013 and is grateful for the opportunity to serve as a Stephen Leader at Second.
Susan Marsh moved to Little Rock about seven years ago after living in Michigan and Massachusetts when her husband accepted a position at UAMS. Susan and her husband have two grown sons who both live out of state. She worked for many years with people who have disabilities, and now does volunteer work mainly for UAMS, Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Guild. Her hobbies include hiking, knitting and learning to play the piano.
Jo Ann McQuade joined Second Presbyterian Church in 1981. Jo Ann has been very active in Second Presbyterian activities and served on the Diaconate and Outreach Ministries. Presently she serves on the Pastoral Care Ministry in several Committees as: A Stephen Ministry Leader for 16 years; Sunday Transportation coordinator; Team member for the Faith and Grief Luncheon Committee; Facilitator for Grief Book distribution; Member of Pray Knots; Serves as member of the Over 80 Card Ministry; and, is the Co-chair of Alzheimer’s Arkansas Support group.
Jana Villemez works with families and their children with multiple disabilities in an educational setting. She is married to Chris and has two grown sons that live in Austin, Texas and Cincinnati, Ohio. They have lived in Arizona, Idaho, Vermont, Southern California, and Little Rock. During these moves, she has been involved in Stephen Ministry in some form and is grateful to Second Presbyterian for allowing her to continue her path in caring for others in a Christ-centered way!
Laurie Stueart joined Second Presbyterian Church in February 2004. She currently works for HealthScope Benefits as a claims analyst. She was commissioned as a Stephen Minister in 2006 and as a Stephen Leader in 2014.
Rita Wooley has been a member of Second Presbyterian Church since 1985. She and her husband Brad, have two grown children, Elizabeth Dearing and Bradley Wooley. Rita has served on the Session, the Diaconate, and participated in many other ministries of the Church, including, (her most challenging endeavor) the development of Second Servings Cookbook. Previously commissioned as a Stephen Minister, Rita now serves as a Stephen Leader, and is responsible for coordinating the Continued Education for the current Stephen Ministers. Rita is also a second generation Stephen Leader, following in the footsteps of her mother, who attended the first training class in 1992.
Stephen Ministers
Syd Adams is a native of Little Rock and has been a member of Second Presbyterian since 1987. She has previously served the church as a deacon. Syd is married to Greg Adams and they have two children, Lora and Noah. Syd has a bachelor’s degree in social work from Baylor University and a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Special Education from UALR. She works at Easter Seals Arkansas as a special education consultant. Second Presbyterian Church has been a unimaginable blessing in her life and she looks forward to the opportunity to serve the church and its members as a Stephen Minister on the Stephen Ministry of the Pastoral Care Committee.
Ann Burnside has been a member of Second Presbyterian Church since 1990. She and her husband Bob met and married at Second Presbyterian and have raised three children there. Ann has a BSN from UAMS and worked 25 years at Arkansas Children’s Hospital before retiring in 2016. She has served on the Diaconate and Session and enjoyed years of working with FAME, teaching children’s church school as well as youth church school classes and confirmation. Some of Ann’s fondest memories of her time at Second Presbyterian are of the wonderful times she and her family spent on family retreats at Ferncliff. Ann is thankful for the privilege to serve as a Stephen Minister.
Sharon Ann Downs is from the Little Rock area and is a long-time member of Second Presbyterian Church. She and Ben are the proud parents of Harrison, a smart and talented young man who keeps them on their toes. Sharon has a BA in Interpretation: ASL/English and an MS in Counseling. She has worked at UA Little Rock for twenty years, currently serving as Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs – Wellness and Inclusion. Her passions include diversity and inclusion work, as well as singing in choirs at Second Presbyterian and at UA Little Rock. She was commissioned as a Stephen Minister in 2018.
Steve Dunnagan has been a member of Second Presbyterian Church since 1999. He is married to Kim, and has grown daughters Anne and Laura. In 2001 he joined church members in a medical mission to Haiti, and has served on the diaconate. Steve works as a physician with Radiology Associates in Little Rock, specializing in Neuroradiology. Outside interests include hunting, gardening, and travel. He was commissioned as a Stephen Minister in 2018.
Cindy Edwards has been a member of Second Presbyterian Church for 20 years. She moved to Little Rock with husband Bill after graduation from the University of Arkansas. Cindy has taught FAME, Vacation Bible School, Sunday School and served as a youth advisor and on the Diaconate. She has two grown daughters, Ashley Edwards Hill of Bentonville and Jessie Edwards Gillham of Little Rock. Cindy teaches 4 year olds at St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School and enjoys cooking, gardening, traveling and being a new grandmother.
Betty Herron moved to Little Rock in 1974 and joined Second Presbyterian Church in 1975. Betty was born in Texas and has moved 17 times but calls Little Rock home. Betty graduated from Ohio State University with a BS in Nursing. She founded and served as Executive Director of Arkansans for Drug Free Youth for 15 years. She retired from UAMS as Development Director of UAMS Psychiatry. She is married to Jerry Herron and they have three children, Jennifer, Patrick and Anne as well as five grandchildren, all of whom live in Little Rock. Betty served as a deacon two times and served as chair of the Second Presbyterian Gardeners for three years. She is currently a member of the Monday Pastoral Care committee and considers it an honor and privilege to serve as a Stephen minister.
Adele Holmes and her husband Chris joined Second Presbyterian in 2017. They live in Benton where she practiced medicine for many years before taking an early retirement to devote herself to travel, her grandchildren, her horse, writing, and service to others in God’s name—which is what drew her to Stephen Ministry.
Diane Holt recently retired after 40 years of working in the Nursing Profession. She received her BSN and Masters from UAMS College of Nursing. She felt very fortunate to have chosen a profession that offered many experiences to care for individuals and the last 11 years with children with mental health issues. She is the proud mother of two daughters and her grandchildren, Candace Chappell (David, Holt and Carson) and Kelley Udouj (Frank, Andrew and Avery). After joining Second Presbyterian Church two years ago, she was drawn to serve on the Pastoral Care Committee and to become a Stephen Minister. Diane looks forward to having the opportunity to be of service to people who are coping with difficulties in their lives by offering them a listening ear and prayerful support.
Barbara Lasley has been a member of Second Presbyterian Church since 1968. She has taught the Third Grade Sunday School class, worked with the children’s choir, Vacation Bible School and served as an Elder. She was born and raised in Dermott, Arkansas, graduated from The University of Arkansas and worked for several years in the oil and gas industry in Houston, Texas. Barbara married Jim Lasley in 1967, moved to Little Rock and together they had three grown children, Leah Shell (Philip Shell), Jimmy Lasley (Amy Lasley) and Brian Lasley (Jessica Lasley). They now have five grandchildren, John Shell, Rees Shell, Cross Lasley, Caroline Lasley and Claudia Lasley. Barbara works at The Lasley Company and enjoys spending as much time as possible with her family. Second Presbyterian Church has been a most important part of her life in raising her family and enjoying the community of the church. Serving as a Stephen Minister is such an honor and privilege.
Marge Anna Luttrell has been a member of Second Presbyterian Church since 1987. Over the past 30 years she has been involved in various ministries serving on both the Diaconate and the Session. She enjoyed her time teaching all ages through Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Confirmation, and as Youth Advisor. Currently, she participates in the Handbell Choir, Hospital Visitation team and communion to members at home. Outside of the church, she is on the board of Potluck and works at Astellas Pharma. She and her husband, Rex, enjoy spending time with her two grown daughters and his three grown children. She also enjoys hiking, reading and traveling.
Peggy Marshall has been a member of Second Presbyterian Church for 35 years and has served as a deacon for the congregation. She is married to Bill Marshall and has one grown son, Taylor, and three grandchildren. Peggy is a retired school teacher and currently teaches the Kindergarten Sunday School class.
Judy McDaniel has been a member of a Presbyterian Church all her adult life. She has taught Sunday School at all levels, Vacation Bible School, served as a Deacon, and made weekly meals for local soup kitchen as well as served weekly meals to the homeless. She had been involved in her children’s schools in their PTO as treasurer, secretary, fund raiser, and obtaining speakers for monthly meetings. In the community, she has volunteered at UAMS in their cancer unit.
Anne Stroud was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas; graduated from Jonesboro High School; Arkansas State with a BSE and The University of Mississippi with a masters in English Literature; The University of Little Rock with an MSW. She has lived in Little Rock since 1979, working as a social worker (LCSW) for nearly 30 years at Riley’s Oak Hill Manor; Rebsamen Medical Center, Jacksonville; and The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences from which she retired in 2010. Anne’s two daughters are LeeAnn Deemer and Kathryn Shaffer. LeeAnn lives with her husband, Pete, and three children, Felix, Nora, and Louisa in Sri Lanka. Kathryn lives in Bentonville with her husband, Lance, and their two children, Holden and Skylar. Anne was recently commissioned as a Stephen Minister at Second Presbyterian. She is a member of Grace Presbyterian.
Barbara Vaught was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. She moved to Arkansas in 1972, becoming an Arkansan enjoying nature in Little Rock and around Arkansas. Barbara worked for various employers including Arkansas State government, Arkansas Bankers Association, Arkansas Children’s Hospital and American Home Life/North Little Rock Funeral Home. She retired in 2011 to become a housewife to her dear husband of 20 plus years, Jerry Vaught, and was widowed in 2013. Since then, she has become more involved with church. She’s part of the Faith & Grief ministry and Stephen ministry. Barbara enjoys feeling part of the community of Second Presbyterian Church.
Chris Villemez moved to Little Rock from California in 1994. He has worked 29 years for Systematics, Alltel and now Verizon. He is married (Jana) and has two sons (Derek and Andy). He recently joined Second Presbyterian and likes reading, exercising, wood working and most things sports. Chris supports the Our House ministry and is a member of the Hospital Visitation team.
