The members of Second Presbyterian Church take seriously their commitment to serving others by volunteering on a regular basis in many ways. Some serve on state and national ministries of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and ministries connected to the greater church such as the Medical Benevolence Foundation. This ministry provides millions of dollars and volunteers around the world for the work of medical missions.
Other members live out their commitment through local organizations. Some of these agencies and ministries are: Habitat for Humanity (partners with low income families to provide safe affordable housing), Arkansas Rice Depot (serves the hungry through food pantries, shelters, school programs, and shut-in and disaster relief programs) Our House (provides emergency shelter, housing and job training to help the homeless re-enter society), Stewpot (serves the hungry a warm, free, noon-time meal five days a week), and St. Francis House (provides emergency services to the neediest and most underserved persons in the community).
